Are publishers required to provide National Instructional Materials Accessibility Standard (NIMAS) files of their materials?

Yes. NIMAS files must be provided if publishers have any print components intended for student use. The NIMAS provision was included in the revised Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) of 2004. State education agencies are required to adopt the NIMAS and commit to improving the systems by which students with disabilities receive accessible specialized formats.
