If you already have access to the Educator Certification Online System (ECOS), click the My Documents tab on the left side of the ECOS menu.

  • Upload your current driver's license or state ID. If you experience issues, please review our instructions for uploading documents.

  • Out-of-Country educators who do not hold a state-issued driver's license must submit a copy of a current passport.

If you do not have access to your TEA account, click the “Submit a request” link at the bottom of this page. You must attach one of the following documents to the request form:

  • Current state driver’s license or state ID

  • Out-of-Country educators who do not hold a state-issued driver’s license must submit a copy of a current passport

If you are changing your first name, you must also submit one of the following documents as supplemental identification. 

  • Social Security Card

  • Birth Certificate

  • Court Order documents

The current processing time is 5-7 business days once all required documents are received. During times of high volume, name change requests may take longer to process.

Note: You may take a picture of your driver’s license or state ID and upload the attachment at the bottom of the request form. Please ensure the image is legible, as this can delay processing.

If you have an exam scheduled in the next 5-7 business days, it's advisable to reschedule to avoid being denied entry on the day of the exam. If you have any concerns about your scheduled exam and want to ensure you're prepared for exam day, please contact the testing company directly.
